Dr. Kyla Bothwell completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in traumatic stress psychology at Adler University in Chicago. She completed her predoctoral internship program at Regional Mental Health Center in Northwest Indiana in 2019. Prior to starting at B&C Health, Dr. Bothwell completed a post-doctoral fellowship in behavioral health consultation, which included work addressing a range of concerns related to mental health, substance use, and co-occurring medical conditions. She has trained and practiced in a variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health centers, and primary care medical clinics.
Dr. Bothwell brings a cognitive-behavioural approach to therapy but also integrates mindfulness-based interventions, acceptance and commitment therapy, and specific evidenced-based trauma treatment modalities when appropriate. Some of her clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, acute and chronic health concerns, adjustment, and trauma.
Dr. Bothwell works with adult clients and welcomes individuals with diverse backgrounds, sexualities, and gender identities. She believes in a collaborative and authentic therapeutic relationship and equipping clients with tools they can use outside of therapy.
