Shawn Wilson completed his Clinical Psychology Ph.D. in 2017, graduating from the University at Albany, State University of New York. He completed his APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department (TCJPD). Shawn then managed the Assessment Services team at TCJPD, until he moved to Ontario and joined B&C Health. Prior to this experience, Shawn has worked in community mental health, pediatric medical, and school settings.
Shawn has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. He is collaborative, supportive, and non-judgmental when working with clients, and uses evidence-based therapy. Shawn conducts cognitive-behavioural therapy, including mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy techniques as appropriate. He has worked with clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and is LGBTQ+ affirming. Shawn has helped clients who have experienced many different challenges, including: mood and anxiety problems, behavioural problems, trauma and/or stress, parenting difficulties, sleep problems, relationship difficulties, chronic pain, job burnout, and more.
In addition to therapy, Shawn completes psychological assessments with children, adolescents, and adults. He similarly uses a collaborative approach with his assessments and enjoys helping individuals learn more about themselves as part of the assessment process. For self-care, Shawn enjoys going on walks, cooking new recipes, watching superhero movies, and playing with his pets.
